About Rev. Toby
Rev. Toby Iweka is an evangelist, pastor, teacher, author and bridge builder whose journey of faith began in 1990, when he gave his life to Jesus Christ. Shortly after his conversion, he received a word from the Lord that would shape his calling:
“Arise and shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. I will send you to the ends of the earth. Descend upon men, and I will descend upon you.”
In 1991, during a time of fasting and prayer, Toby had a vision of a mighty torch that filled the sky. As he watched, the torch gradually became smaller until it fell into his hands. This encounter stirred within him a deep passion for evangelism and propelled him into ministry.
That same year, he began preaching from house to house and streets, sharing the gospel and reaching families with the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.
In 1994, Toby attended the International Bible Institute of London. While studying at Bible college, he founded the Joy of Salvation Evangelism Association (JOSEA), giving expression to his calling to reach the lost and make disciples.
Following his graduation, he held a crusade on 10 November 1994, attended by 48 people. Two people gave their lives to Jesus Christ at that meeting. One later became a pastor and went on to establish a church in Nigeria.
These early beginnings laid the foundation for a ministry devoted to sharing the gospel, equipping believers and reaching nations for Christ.
Between 1994 and 1997, Toby held seven evangelistic crusades across London; in Queen’s Park, Stratford, Stanmore, Wimbledon, Ladbroke Grove, Neasden and Shepherd’s Bush. Working alongside local churches, he proclaimed the gospel, prayed for the sick and led people to faith in Jesus Christ.
In 1995, he brought the message of salvation to London’s Underground through a gospel advertising campaign across all carriages of the Jubilee line. Originally booked for one month, the advertisements remained in place for three months; a remarkable extension he attributes to God’s favour.
In 1997, an invitation to minister at a church in North London marked the birth of Toby’s evangelism training ministry. Since then, he has trained thousands of Christians across various churches, in United Kingdom, Nigeria and Kenya equipping them to share their faith and take the gospel into their communities.
His approach brings training and practical outreach together, helping believers grow in confidence as they reach people, lead them to Christ and establish opportunities for Bible study and discipleship.
Rev Toby has led successful evangelistic campaigns in the United Kingdom, Nigeria and Kenya, working with local churches to equip believers and reach communities with the gospel. One particularly fruitful outreach in Nigeria involved 400 trained evangelists. Within just two hours of outreach, the event recorded 1,000 salvations and 700 Bible study appointments; a powerful testimony to the impact of equipping Christians and mobilising them for personal evangelism. From his early house-to-house ministry in London to campaigns in Nigeria and Kenya, Toby has remained committed to winning souls and helping churches carry the message of Jesus Christ beyond their walls. He also serves as the Overseer of his home church, Joy of Salvation Miracle Centre, which he founded in 2021 based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.
Toby’s deep love for God and enduring passion for souls lie at the heart of his work as an evangelist, pastor, teacher and author. His vision is to carry the gospel to every nation and raise an army of evangelists who will reach homes and communities for Jesus Christ.
A graduate of Cass Business School, City University London, he brings his education and experience to his leadership and ministry. Through his teaching, writing and partnerships with churches, he continues to encourage believers to become effective witnesses for Christ.
The faithful support of his friends and ministry partners helps sustain this mission: to win the lost and make disciples at any cost.
